For Service Providers
In Iowa, about 69,000 people are visually impaired, and of this number, about 10,000 are blind.
Your Services + Our Services = Positive Outcomes
In your role as a service provider to Iowans, you’re recognizing individual needs for varying kinds of assistance every day. For needs related to blindness and visual impairment, the Iowa Department for the Blind is always a ready resource. We believe that if we work together to provide the best possible services to our clients, the outcome will be a positive one for everyone.
A comprehensive array of services is available to qualifying people statewide. Through state and federal support, most services are free to qualified Iowans and, of course, confidential. For over half a century, the Department has become well known for vocational rehabilitation, independent living skills development and exceptional library services.
